Dr. Stephanie Shippen is a registered clinical psychologist. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and completed her master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology at the Pacific Graduate School of Psychology-Stanford University Psy.D. Consortium in Palo Alto, California. She has over 10 years of experience providing mental
health care to diverse clients.
Prior to moving to Australia, Stephanie worked in a variety of settings in the US including university counseling centers, hospitals, community mental health clinics, and in private practice. In addition to her clinical work, she ran a clinical training program for master’s and doctoral psychology students. Stephanie enjoys providing individual, couples, and group psychotherapy. She uses an integrative therapeutic approach to help clients achieve their goals. She has extensive training and experience providing evidence-based treatments like Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Time Limited Dynamic Psychotherapy (TLDP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Gottman Method for couples.
Stephanie believes that everyone can benefit from therapy. She uses her expertise to help clients gain new perspective, identify and overcome barriers, cope with life transitions, cultivate self-compassion, and develop skills to create a life worth living. Together, she helps clients identify their strengths and bolster resilience. Providing warm, non-judgmental, and collaborative support is at the core of her practice.
Her areas of expertise include the treatment of anxiety, depression, adjustment to parenthood, relationship concerns, trauma, identity exploration including gender identity, emerging adulthood, eating and body image concerns, mindfulness and self-compassion practices, and multicultural concerns. She has extensive experience working with young adults. Stephanie’s personal experiences as a multiracial person makes her passionate about supporting diverse clients. She enjoys working with clients varying in age, gender identity, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, health concerns, nationality, and religion.
Stephanie currently has availability for new clients on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (telehealth only on Thursday).
